Every single item present in the tea house was borrowed, rented or sourced locally from an ethical vendor. After the event, any remaining supplies and decorations were donated to local charities.
“A weary band of travelers much like you once happened upon an oasis. No moment of rest or drink was expected until this oasis appeared upon the horizon.
Their journey through the desert was full and diverse, it was hopeful and heartbreaking, it was won and it was lost. But in the oasis not one of these dualities existed. There was only… the present moment. There was only... exactly what was needed. There were only fellow wandering souls of the desert deserving of an oasis.
With the memory of this story, we welcome you to our Tea House. May you replenish your spirit, your hope, and our planet here.”
Once guests are greeted by our hostess with a short intentional ritual, they are brought to a table where their Tea Guide serves ethically sourced tea, bringing attention to the taste, smell, and even the warmth of the cup. They also share the story of the tea bring enjoyed - how it made its way through tradition, agriculture, and production all the way to our Tea House.

The message we share is that by appreciating quality and bringing attention to the subtle beauty that exists in what we consume, we actually experience a higher level of satisfaction than if we simply consume a higher quantity of it without mindfulness.
By bringing attention to quality - in this case, ethically sourced goods or tea - we can worry less about exploitation in the value chain, and leave the world a more balanced, empowered place than how we found it.

Before guests leave the experience, they are given a “call to action” to “consume less & value more by committing to go 31 days zero waste. The entire experience lasts 15 minutes per guest.
